PIONEER MARCHING BAND PLANS FREE COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE

STILLWATER, Okla. – If you are ready for a feeling of fall, the Stillwater High School Pioneer Marching Band may have just what you need.

The Pioneer Marching Band will host a free community performance on Thursday, August 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium. The performance will cap off the bands’ summer camp in preparation for the upcoming marching and football season. The band will perform their pregame routine as well as give the audience a taste of their 2024 show, entitled “Bloom.”

The exact performance time may be impacted by the heat index in accordance with Oklahoma Secondary School’s Athletic Association guidelines.  Performance time updates will be posted to the bands’ social media sites if needed on the day of the performance.

“In a change from previous years, we are hosting this performance at Pioneer Stadium instead of the Fieldhouse,” said Stillwater Public Schools Director of Bands, Kevin Zamborsky. “This should offer a better acoustic experience for our audience and allow more of the community to come out to support our band students.”

The Pioneer Marching Band will perform at all five home regular season Stillwater Pioneer football games, as well as participate in five marching contests across the state this fall. The band’s first marching competition will be at the Deer Creek Invitational Marching Festival at Deer Creek High School in Edmond on September 21.

“Our students have been working hard to prepare for this marching season, and we are excited to have the opportunity to provide our parents, alumni, and the community a preview of this year’s show before the first home football game and marching competitions begin,” added Zamborsky.

The Pioneer Marching Band is a regular finalist in state and regional marching competitions. Stillwater is the reigning bronze medalist at the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association's state championship and was the state academic champion in 2023. The band is under the direction of Kevin Zamborsky, Tricia Bailey-Bovenschen, Megan Perkins, KG Robinson, Katie Genevro, and color guard director Darin Williams.
